Put A Little Love In Your Life - Adopt A

I
hardly need to introduce myself, do I?
I've been up here so long that everyone
should know me by now. I was a puppy when
I came here, and my right front leg was
broken and had healed straight up in the
air so I couldn't use it. CRT had it
repaired for me and I spent 12 weeks in a
big bandage during the summer because I
had a few complications. Then I got
spayed, and after waiting a while, I had
my luxating patellas repaired, so I was
all tuned up and ready to go! After that,
I was sure I would get adopted, but nope,
no one wanted me, so I just hung out here.
My foster mom and I have spent the time
training each other, although she likes to
think she's just training me. We've worked
out a pretty good relationship, though, if
I do say so myself.
I'm
three years and 8 months old, and I weigh
about 5.8 lbs. If you look at my pictures,
you'll see that I have a Chihuahua head
and an Italian Greyhound body. I'm
actually sort of both and neither. I'm
very affectionate, and like to get my head
right up under your chin and snuggle with
you, and I don't want any other dogs
around while I'm in your lap. I'll
tolerate them sometimes, but only certain
ones. I like going to adoption events and
Pet Expos, but I'm not crazy about
strangers manhandling me. "Look, but don't
touch," is my motto. I like other dogs and
get along with them, but my real love is
people. I really really really want my
very own person, without a lot of other
dogs competing for attention. One or two
others would be fine. I don't like being
alone a lot, but I can handle a few hours,
as long as I have a nice big crate or
x-pen, my favorite snuggly, and my toys.
Sometimes
I play with hedgie, my hedgehog toy, and
kill him over and over. He always is ready
for another session, though. Or I crawl
all the way into a large snuggle bag and
take a nap. That's where I sleep every
night -- my snuggle bag in my crate. I go
in there when our light goes off and never
come out until morning.
My legs are very long and fragile, and I
can't be picked up just any old way. My
foster mom can show you how to pick me up,
and you'd better watch carefully, because
I scream if you're careless. I can't live
with children or larger dogs -- it would
be way too easy for me to be injured
badly, and I've had enough surgery in my
life now. I need adults who know who to
treat a fragile dog and who will be very
careful with me.
I love our fenced yard in the summer, and
most of all I love sunning myself on my
chaise. Sometimes I even let my mom sit
out there and read a book while I
sunbathe, as long as there's room for me
on that chaise. I hate going out in rainy
or cold weather, and use puppy pads then.
My only problem is that I don't think I'd
do well with a lot of carpeting, although
I'm a very good girl when my mom takes me
to motels if we have to stay overnight.
But it's just not a good idea to have to
live on carpeting all the time.

I
have very distinct preferences and
likes/dislikes. I want a mom who means
what she says, and has firm guidelines for
me. When things aren't too firm, I get
anxious and try to take charge myself. My
mom makes me feel safe, and I know she'll
always take care of me. I need that in my
new home, too.
