CRT Guest Adoptions Page - Non CRT Rescues

Please read the following statement before looking at the adoption listings...

This is a listing of Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes that are NOT CRT rescues.  These are either individual rescuers or other rescue groups.

However, CRT policy requires that all Chihuahuas posted on this page be spayed/neutered prior to placement.

Please email the contact person listed with each dog.  CRT will not have any information on these dogs other than what is listed. If you or your rescue group know of a Chihuahua or Chihuahua mix who needs a home, please email adoptions@chihuahua-rescue.com  We are always willing to add a needy Chi to our list!

SHAQ & LEFTY JR.

Shaq

Lefty Jr
Adorable little Shaq is shy of strangers but oh so sweet! He is 6 years old, healthy, up to date on his vaccines, microchipped, and neutered. He weighs 8 pounds. He is a wonderful low-key boy, quiet and well-behaved inside, housebroken to go outside, playful and sweet, and doing super well in his foster home. He can be a little shy and defensive of new people, but once he knows you he strikes a pose asking to be picked up, so cute! He loves to be pet and will nuzzle into your hand for more. He gets along well with all the dogs he's met big and small, is being fostered with Lefty a 4.5-pound dominant male Chihuahua. He met his foster home's cats and when they ran scared, he did try to chase them, but he's seen them through a baby gate since then and not gone after them, so could possibly be introduced slowly to confident cats and do fine. His prior home left him at the shelter, saying they couldn't afford him any more. We suspect he may have been disciplined with physical force as he can be hand shy. Because of his shyness, we think he'd do best in a dog-experienced adult home with lots of laps and blankets to snuggling in! Here's a video of him in his foster home: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-jpwUDRuUY

Shaq is available for adoption in Los Angeles, but his foster is willing to drive him up to 5 hours away (San Francisco to San Diego) for the right home. Adoption application, contract, home check, and donation to his nonprofit rescue group are all required. Please email trumandog@gmail.com with any questions, or fill out an application at http://www.mollysmuttsandmeows.org/adopt.html - thank you!

Meet tiny Lefty Jr., he weighs 4.8 pounds, loves to snuggle and be cuddled. See how adorable he is in his video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SE3t8s9kGEM
His name "Lefty" is for his slightly crooked left front paw, which doesn't bother him a bit, as he was born with it. He runs around with no problems at all! He is estimated to be 10 years old by the shelter vet and has been vet checked, vaccinated, neutered and microchipped. He is SUPER FRIENDLY!! He dances around on just two legs, asking to be picked up! He gets along really well with all the other little friendly dogs he's met. Since he's very small, he would do best in a home without toddlers or very active children. He is housebroken with a pee-pad on hard floors, but NOT housebroken on carpet - his foster home doesn't have carpet for him to learn. He's a good little watchdog, but his bark is pretty quiet and low-pitched, and he understands to be quiet if you say "shhh". He seems to have been someone's much-loved pet at some point. He would love a home where he's with another little dog for company (if he can be the boss), or as an only pet if his family is around most of the time because he gets very sad if left totally alone.

This little tatertot applehead cutie is available for adoption in Los Angeles, but his foster is willing to drive him up to 5 hours away (San Francisco to San Diego) for the right home. Adoption application, contract, home check, and donation to his nonprofit rescue group are all required. Please email trumandog@gmail.com with any questions, or fill out an application at http://www.mollysmuttsandmeows.org/adopt.html - thank you!

LILY
Lily is being fostered in Huber Heights, Ohio

She was born on July 5, 2008 and is a Pom/Chi mixed. She is blonde in color with big brown eyes and weighs 10 pounds.

Lily was an owner released little girl. At first she was a little shy and timid, but she is an absolute little joy. She has the sweetest disposition and loves to play with my dog. She also chases one of my cats, Merry. Merry is my bully of the cats. I would also tell Merry that what comes around goes around. Well, here it is.

Lily also loves to take walks and watch out if she sees a bunny or bird. She will get really excited and stand on her hind legs and want to go after them. This little lady really needs to go to a home with a fence because she will run and jump like crazy. She loves to jump. Everything outside gets her attention, i.e. a bug, butterfly, etc. It is so funny. Another thing, Lily loves to put things in her mouth. I have to watch her. One time I was not paying attention and when I looked down she was carrying a large twig between her teeth. It made me laugh.

She loves to have her belly rubbed and play with toys, especially my dog’s pink pig. Lily is really fast too. She runs loops around my dog. She also loves to sleep with you at night. She knows what I mean by “let’s go potty, who wants to go outside”. She is also getting to know “who wants a puppy snack?”. Cute, cute, cute!

At first she did not like riding in the car, but she is now getting used to it. Oh, and she is a barker if she hears something. She will be a good watch dog. If you are looking for a sweet, lovable furbaby, Lily is the one.

She has been spayed, UTD on shots and heart worm negative. A home visit is required as is a fence, unless you like to walk a lot.

If you are interested in this little love bug, please contact me at: cheryl@mooreandassociates.us

ZACK
Zach is a darling little 4.5 lb Chihuahua puppy who is less than 6 months old. One of our Tzu Zoo volunteers found him wandering and saved this little guy. He is a sweet little one who loves people and other dogs. He is working on his potty manners and is almost there.

You can apply to adopt Zach at tzuzoorescue.com for this darling fluff that just arrived. More information available by contacting tzuzoorescue@gmail.com.

PIXIE

My Name is Pixie and I’m currently looking for a permanent home.  I had to leave my previous home due to an injury my previous owner sustained and now is unable to care for me.

I like to go on walks (sometimes even as much as 7 mile hikes).  I also like to sit with people and just be a couch potato too!  I am very friendly and don’t mind cats at all. Little children make me nervous sometimes but I like to hide in my kennel when they come around.

Oh, I almost forgot....I am a hearty eater and I love treats!

I am spayed and had a dental cleaning in February as well as my annual vaccines and I’m healthy for a senior.  Don't forget - we Chihuahuas live a long time!!

If you live in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, or Illinois and are interested in meeting me, please contact my foster family at akohusky@yahoo.com.  I’m looking forward to meeting you!

Lots of kisses,
Pixie

CHARLIE AND JOJO THE BOXER

I live in Plantation, FL.. I have attached pictures of Charlie. Charlie is a large breed, Deer legged Chihuahua, 2 years old, tan and white, very energetic, smart, loveable, has all shots, is neutered, is kennel/house trained, comes with his kennel and toys. He will do best with another dog, as he has had his brother to play with for two years. Would love to place them together, if at all possible.

Thank you again for any assistance you are able to provide.

 Sincerely,

(P.S. This is Rick, the webmaster for CRT.  I had a Boxer for many years and found them to be the most loving and loyal dog. Plus, they are the biggest babies you've ever known.)

budmiester

This is Budmiester or Buddy for short!

He is a Chihuahua and Doxie mix and he needs a forever home.  He is about 2 years old and has been neutered and utd on shots.

He was rescued off the streets in TN and brought to IL by my granddaughters.  He needs room to run and play and gets along with adults and dogs his size.

Buddy is very affectionate and lets you know when he needs out.  He can be crated but doesn't like it too much!  Buddy is protective of his family and wants to sleep with you at night.

If you would like a great dog and loving companion, please contact me at: julie_steffa@yahoo.com

I am about 100 miles from chicago.

LOUIS and BABY

This is Louis, he is 5 years old. Louis is the type of dog that really loves his family.  He does really well with our 1 year old but, that is because he knows him. Louis can be quite feisty when he is first meeting people.  He will bark non-stop when he is first meeting a stranger, but basically it's because he is scared. He loves to have his stomach rubbed and lots of  love.

He also can be a stubborn dog.  Usually he will go to the bathroom outside, but he has been known to make you stand out there for awhile and go as soon as we come inside, which can be frustrating at times.

Louis is due for his shots right now, unfortunately it is quite expensive. Up until this point he has always had his shots right on time. He has Frontline every three months and Heartguard pill every month. Louis was neutered when he was 1 year old.

This is Baby.  He is 3 years old, and probably the sweetest dog you will  ever meet. Baby loves everyone and has lots of kisses to give. He will let anyone hold him and he is housebroken. He loves his brother (another Chihuahua), but he will love any dog. Baby will make a great family pet.

Baby is due for his shots right now, unfortunately it is quite expensive.  Up until this point he has always had his shots right on time. He has Frontline every three months and Heartguard pill every month. Baby was neutered when he was 6 months old.

These dogs are located in Palm Coast, Florida.  If you have room in your heart for these two wonderful companions, please contact:
Amandaxc1@aol.com

LACI

My husband and I have a Chihuahua/poodle mix puppy that will be 1 year old on 6/2/09. We both have health problems and are not able to care for this active puppy. We have a 10 year old Chi that is easy care but her new  companion has been a bit much for us. We would like to place her in a home where she can get her needs met.

Her name is Laci (the cute little dog on the right. She loves to run and play. She goes outside on a leash and is good most of the time about her potties. She doesn't yet know how to ask to go out so we leave a puppy pad in the bathroom and she uses that when her Mom doesn't take her outside. Even with rugs down she always goes on the puppy pad.

She is friendly with people after she gets to know them.  She's a bit shy but has never bitten anyone. She is crate trained to an open wire crate and when told to "go in your house" she goes with no complaints. She will always retreat to her crate if something frightens her Her only bad habit is that she likes to chew anything that is made from cloth. That means no soft toys unless you want stuffing all over your house.

We have found that the heavy string toys work well and she likes squeak toys made from vinyl. When she goes to sleep at night in her crate she chews a blanket just like a pacifier.

Laci has had a broken leg from jumping off of my lap, hitting the ottoman and doing a flip. Her elbow was displaced and she had two breaks, but all healed. She also had an injury to her back leg that we never figured out what she did. The vet could find no tears or breaks. She was treated with pain meds and recovered totally in about 6 weeks. All of her shots are up to date and she is spayed.  She weighs about 8 pounds. Is an excellent eater but not a self feeder.

It breaks our hearts to have to part with her but with our health problems we don't feel we are giving her the life she deserves and would like her to have a good life. We hoping that your organization can find her a good home

My 10 yo chi on the left and Laci on the right.

Hoping to hear from you soon.

Thank you,

PENNY
Penny is a shelter rescue and very loved! She was found walking in the alley and was never claimed. Very sweet girl who wants to be with you and part of a family. Well mannered, sits and asks to go out.

**We are looking for the RIGHT home!

She loves to just sit in your lap!

Penny is an 8-9 year old female Chihuahua. She is already spayed and is house trained. Penny is a senior dog and should only be considered for adoption by a person or family that will pay attention to her special needs. Penny would not do well in a home with small children or bigger dogs, though she does do fine with other small dogs and cats. Penny mostly likes a soft bed and can only eat soft food with her 5 remaining teeth. She has had a dental and several teeth pulled while in the care of the shelter. She is heartworm negative.

Penny is a healthy dog and and gets around like a youngster.

Sweet face with the brightest eyes! She does not show her age!

Come visit with Penny today. The only thing necessary for adoption would be a rabies shot and lots of love.

TANNER
Tanner is a brown and black colored Chihuahua/Yorkie mix and weighs about 7-8 pounds. He looks more like a Chihuahua but has the markings and coat color of a Yorkie.

Tanner is almost one year old and still in full puppy mode. He has tons of energy and is always ready to play. Tanner does very well with children and loves other animals. He is fully crate trained and will go into his crate simply when told to. Tanner is looking for a new home because he spends all day in his crate when he needs to be running off his energy, and the apartment that I am moving to in the Fall does not allow pets. He needs as family that can spend enough time with him and a place where he will not have to spend the entire day in his crate.

Tanner is potty trained, but needs to be reminded when to go outside. He loves cuddling in your lap to take naps and loves to put on a show with his new tricks. I hate to see Tanner leave, but he needs the attention that he deserves. Please give this little guy a home where he can run around and be free!

SENORITA

Senorita is an 8 year old female whose owner has developed health problems that forces her to find Senorita a new home. She has never been around children and is litter boxed trained with dog litter, (second nature, or yesterdays news.) She also goes outside if you take her out but she will use her litter box.

Senorita is very healthy and energetic. She has had all her shots and never been ill. She is also on heartworm medication. She is very protective and will bark when a stranger comes or if she hears a noise and will bark until the stranger leaves. Once she gets to know a person she no longer barks at them. She is an inside lap dog, she is not and never has been an outside dog.

If you can provide a home for Senorita, please contact her owner at: angel501_51@hotmail.com

ROY

This is Roy and he is a neutered male about 2 years old and is AKC certified.  He is very sweet and energetic.

Ideally, it would nice to place him with a family that has no dogs or a family with larger dogs.  He tends to be overly playful and/or aggressive with small dogs.

He stays away from cats.  It's not clear how he reacts with children but he has never been aggressive toward adults.  He is very playful, sweet and lovable.

If you think you have the right home for Roy, then please contact:

Allison Roth <akroth81@yahoo.com

CAMERON

Hello, my name is Cameron. I'm living now with a foster family and am learning my manners for sharing a home with people. I'm eleven years old but this is the first chance I've had to learn. They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks but I'm proof that it can be done! I was rescued from a puppy mill in October and have been in shelter care since. There were 67 dogs in total that were rescued that day, and most have found homes.

Since then, I've learned a lot. I'm bunking now with a pair of wild beagles and two young human boys so I'm learning how to keep out of their way and steal the bones when the beagles aren't looking. I'd prefer a quieter home, but I do okay with the loud crowd. I come when called and I can dance for chicken or other tasty treats. I have a great appetite and am very handsome in my tawny coat. My foster family isn't familiar with chis, so I get treated like a regular dog and am fine with that. I don't shake or yip, and I'm very hardy. Aside from being 11, I have no health problems!

I blog at http://indypaws.com/profile/16639 and am listed on petfinder at http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=12980837. I am heartworm free, up to date on vaccinations, neutered and ready to go home today! The Indianapolis Humane Society set my adoption fee at $105 and is able to work with anyone around the country who will come to the Indianapolis Humane Society to process the adoption. For more info, email fostercare@indyhumane.org or call 317-872-5650

PUDGE

I recently saved a Chihuahua from euthanasia by funding for the
surgery that would give him a new "leash" on life. Pudgy, a 7 year-old
neutered male red longhair Chihuahua, was suffering from bladder stones
that hindered him from urinating, defecating, and subsequently eating and
drinking. Four 1 to 2 centimeter urate crystal stones were removed from
his bladder. Urate stones are one of the more rare types of uroliths, and
now Pudgy must stay on a low-protein diet specially formulated to help dilute the substances that help form urate crystals.

Once Pudgy had recovered, I brought him home to meet the rest of my family. Unfortunately, Pudgy did not respond well to other animals, especially cats. His life before me had been one in which he was the only pet to two masters. Being a senior dog, he may not be able to adapt to an environment where he is one of many, as is the case with my home.

He is currently in a temporary foster situation until proper housing and care can be found for him. I can provide 4 years of continuous veterinary care records for Pudgy.

CHOMPER
This Is Chomper, He is in need of a loving home.

As I write this, I am in tears and my heart is breaking. Chomper will be 4 on Valentines day, and we have had him since he was about 5 months old. He has always been such an amazing dog. He is truly a sweetheart.

He loves nothing more than to just be loved. He sleeps in our bed, under the covers every night and during the day he loves to lay in the sun. He sleeps a lot! He is very healthy, neutered male Chihuahua cross we believe it may be terrier of some sort. But most of his traits are Chihuahua.

He loves to travel, Being in the car is something he really loves. He likes to crawl up into the back window of the car and watch the world go by.
We are being forced to find a new loving home for him due to this terrible economy. The house we have been renting is being foreclosed on and we were given a very short notice and unfortunately haven't been able to find a house to rent that will allow pets.

Chomper is very good with children, he is a very patient and loving dog...he does love to lick! He is not a big fan of other dogs so he is well suited to be an "only child" but he does much better with smaller dogs than larger ones! (he thinks he is a big dog!) BUT he does LOVE cats. Our cat and he like to roll around and play together and then snuggle up and sleep.

Chomper is neutered and up to date on all his shots.  We are located in Northern California, please feel free to email or call us/

CHICO AND BLUE BOY

Hi there,
We're two cute little Chihuahua guys named Chico(D.O.B 11/07/03) and Blue Boy (D.O.B. 11/12/03).  That makes us just over five years old, and with lots of life left in us. We'd sure like to stay together; we've grown up with each other, and with all the changes we're going through lately, we'd feel much more secure. Our mom and dad can't care for us anymore; they're going to a special home to live in and we can't live there with them.

We're not used to children and probably wouldn't be good with them. We also aren't used to large dogs; it was always just us and our mom and dad, and they're quiet people. We don't have many 'wants,' and would fit into your home pretty easily. One thing we do want is a fenced yard! No tie-outs or tethers or anything else like that -- just a nice, secure, fenced area so we can soak up that sun and do our personal things outdoors, on our own.

It's so little to ask --  can you help us? If so, please email airedalz@comcast.net or call 717.225.5421. That's  the nice lady who is trying to find a home for us, and she can handle all the details. She'll transport us within reason, but would prefer that we stay close because she wants to do a home visit. We have an adoption fee that will go towards our transportation costs, so it's small. We're in the Spring Grove, PA, area and need to stay fairly close to that.

PETRIE

"Petrie" is almost 2 years old and is a brown/tan, neutered male Chihuahua.  Weighing in at 10 lbs., he is one of the sweetest dogs you'll ever meet.  He loves everyone and is extremely social.

Petrie spends his days playing with dogs of all sizes (from 60 lbs. on down to 5 lbs.) and enjoys the companionship of other animals (although he seems to want to chase some cats).  He loves to cuddle as well and is just a very happy dog!

Unfortunately, Petrie had bilateral luxating patellas but he has had surgery to repair both of his knees and is fully recovered.  Petrie is fully vaccinated, microchipped and on heartworm & flea prevention.

For more information or to see them please e-mail me at contemplatingnothing@hotmail.com

CHICHI AND CHICO

Chichi (black and tan) and Chico (tan) have been apart of our family for 3 years now. Unfortunately since having our son, they haven't taken to him.

We'd like them to go to a great home and prefer to rehome them together because they've been together all of their lives. They're both current on the shots, have microchips, fixed, and are indoor pets. They’re also very clean and happy.

As a trait of the breed, they do bark a lot... at everyone and everything. But they just have short mans disease. lol We also have detailed medical records for both.

For more information or to see them please e-mail me at chandlervargas@yahoo.com  or call me at 757-814-6510.

KASSIE

This is Kassie!  She is a beautiful, healthy, 10-year old, short haired, blonde Chihuahua, pure-bred (AKC).  She has no health problems at all and is so full of life – very smart too.

Kassie has been spayed.  Her personality is sweet and playful, and she gets along with cats and other dogs if allowed time to warm up to them.  She is also very friendly to adults, but I don't think she feels comfortable around toddlers (their movements scare her).  Small children seem to be fine, with adult supervision.

My son has gone off to college and left her with me, but I can't have dogs in the apartment so I'm looking for a loving home for Kassie.  If you are interested in this wonderful dog, please contact me:

MATCH

Hi!  My name is Match. I am about 10 years old, neutered, up to date on my vaccinations and looking for my retirement home. I am even housetrained!  You just need to look for my signal which my foster mom will be happy to share with you.

I LOVE my blanket and bed but much prefer to sleep with you. I am good with little kids, dogs, and cats... I just want to be loved and warm.

I am spoiled rotten and very, very sweet. I weigh 4.8 lbs but trying to gain a little and will hopefully get to a total of 5.5 lbs.  Would you like to my forever companion? Please contact animalhavenrescue@yahoo.com for more information.

RADAR

Radar is an 11lb, approximately 3 year old buff and white long haired neutered male Chihuahua. He is current on vaccines, heartworm preventative, and had a dental in May, 2008.

He is a little slow to warm up to new people at first, but then wants to be your little buddy. He has been ok with men and women and older children. He lived for several months with a female Chihuahua his size and loved her, but he has shown aggression when introduced to dogs larger than him.

Radar is in Dallas, TX and is in need of a loving home. If you're interested in this wonderful guy, please contact me at (petribird@hotmail.com) and/or
(214-675-9378).

NICO AND NALA

Nico (M-Tan) and Nala (F-Blue) are a loving duo that needs a loving and forever home to keep them together.  They are 3 yr old long hair Chi's who are both neutered and spayed.  They have been a pair since puppies, but are not related.  They are very shy at first but the most well mannered chi's you will ever encounter.  They will warm up to anyone who gives them a smile and a little baby talk won’t hurt.  Both are house broken and litter box trained.  They love to go outside and spend most of the day grooming each other cuddled up.

I will be relocating outside of the country in May/June 2009 and quarantine for 2 months would damage them forever.  In addition to that I am starting the search early for a new home because Nico has a health problem that will require someone with patience and a belief that being different doesn’t make you any less lovable.  He has suffered from on and off seizures since being a puppy.  Nico seizures last a few seconds most cases and are accompanied by a crying/whining noise.  A soothing voice generally gets him through it and then he is completely back to being fine.

I hate that I cannot afford to get this fixed permanently for him and also that because I am leaving the country they risk being split up.  Most of all they are great dogs and have been spoiled all their life and it hurts to have to give them up and be uncertain as to how they will be cared for.  I love these dogs and want the absolute best for them.  If you and your family (no small children because of their size) are sincerely looking for warm and loving chis please give Nico and Nala a second look.  I am looking for a family who have shared their hearts and home with Chi's before as they are truly a special breed.

There will be a small adoption fee requested.  Serious inquiries only can email culturecareonline@yahoo.com.  They need to be adopted in or near New Jersey.

NAPOLEAN

Napolean needs a new home. My family's heart breaks as I write this. Naploean had always been a great dog but when my husband and I had our two small boys life changed for him. Even though he is really big for a Chihuahua (he is 15 lbs but I have his papers) he doesn't like to be poked and prodded by our 1 y/o and 2 y/o. After the last time my son wanted to "pet him" he nipped at my husband and we knew things were not working out anymore.

Poor Napolean just wants to be loved. He loves to snuggle on the couch and sleep in bed with you. He is litter box trained but does have some minor health issues ( bladder stones). Please don't let this discourage you from loving our little guy.

He is neutered and would be great for a family with older children or no children. He plays well with other dogs but I am not sure about cats as he has never been around them. Please help as he has been living at our vet's office for the past 6 weeks as we try and find him a suitable home!

An adoption fee will be required and vet references will be checked. Please email stephanie101@sbcglobal.net if you’d like to meet Napolean. Napolean needs to be adopted in CT, eastern NY state or New England.

MINI  PEARL
Mini Pearl is a wonderful little blue, fawn, and white short haired Chihuahua, she is a larger chi weighing about 9 lbs, and is 4 years old, but she could easily lose a couple of lbs. She is purebred , spayed and up to date on all her shots. She is also potty trained and loves to sleep with her family in bed at night.

She doesn't tear things up or bark a lot at all, she is not nippy and loves everyone young, old, big and small. Mini gets along with cats, dogs, rabbits, just about anything, she has never been around a large breed dog but has been around medium sized dogs and other Chihuahuas.

She has to eat a dog food with no color dyes in it because that gives her a skin allergy from the dye; I guess it is more appropriate to say she has a food allergy to food dyes and we feed her Chicken Soup For The Dog Lover's Soul and she does just great, she just can't eat Beneful or anything like that. It's the same with dog bones: only Purina or other dog treats that are the brown color only.

She is a real doll but needs to find a new home due to her owner being layed off and no longer having a job and needing to downsize, so please if you think you can give Mini Pearl a good home contact me at amy43160@yahoo.com.

I will be asking for vet references, what her living arrangements would be, and possible other things like a home visit. I want Mini to go to her forever home so please think very hard before applying for her because being a chi owner is a very large commitment.

She is currently in Ohio, so you must live in OH/MI/IN/IL.
Thanks again.

NIK

Nik is a 7 year old neutered male Chihuahua that needs a good home. He is a very loyal and affectionate dog. He was left behind after a divorce and I am unable to take proper care of him.

He is CKC registered but I don't have the papers.  He is great with kids but takes a little while to warm up to strangers. Once he warms up though, there isn't a sweeter dog and he loves his lap time.

There will a small re-homing fee to ensure he is going to a good/safe home. Email me at lamerjay@att.net for more info.  He needs to be adopted in the greater Houston, La Porte, TX area.

PACO
Paco was the sole survivor of his litter and was spending 90% time in a cage when he was taken away from his misery by his current caretakers. He was then 1 or 2 years old.

After over a year of good care and love, Paco has become the cutest little thing that will crack you up! he has the funniest bouncing way of walking and such a wide variety of facial expressions -from adorable to hilarious. He is absolutely friendly with everyone and will socialize with any other dogs -he's currently sharing his rescuers' home with 9 other rescue canines of different sizes and breeds. He is a very loving dog, always seeking for attention and affection. He will fit in any household, single person, couple, or family with children, as long as he receives the love and the care he definitely deserves.

A few months ago, Paco was diagnosed with a bad case of heartworm but was treated with success. He was also neutered last month and is up to date with his vaccinations, as well as with his heartworm preventative treatment. He's now a joyful and healthy dog ready to find his new and permanent caretaker.

If you think you have that kind of love in you for Paco, or if you are curious to know more about his personality, please call us at 214-543-4419 or 214-668-9431.

TITO
Tito, Chihuahua, 10 to 12 pounds, neutered and up to date on shots, 4.5 years old.  Shy at first but will warm up and can be protective when strangers come around.

IKE

"The Little Marine", Chi, One eye with clouding from scratch prior to rescue or birth even, neutered and up to date on shots, 2 yrs.  Very sweet and loving good with kids.  Will even let children play dress-up with him.  Does have allergy's to some grasses

RATTY
1 year old, neutered, up to date on shots, great with children about 18 pounds.  Must be paired with another longer legged dog.

PATCH ADAMS

One eye sweetie about 5 yrs, neutered, update on shots.  Left at the shelter but someone cared at one time to have his eye removed.

FRANCINE AND BRADLEY
Francine and Bradley are two AKC bred Chihuahuas in my rescue that need a loving caring home. They are adults so you wont have to deal with the puppy stages with these two. They are very sweet and loving little ones. They are both 8 lbs, a five-year old long-coat male, and a 4-yo smooth-coat female, so they are a little bigger then those itty bitty ones, but still small enough to make a great lap dog. They are up-to- date on shots, and are both fixed. They get along with just about any animal you can put them with, as long as the other animal isn't aggressive. They get along with kids as well.

They both were made to be loving lap dogs, and just love to cuddle with their loved ones. There is an adoption fee for these two, and if you wish to adopt them you must be willing to give out your vet references and or personal references. Please email me for more information at dogfostermom@hotmail.com. They are adoptable in OH/IN/KY, through St. Francis Rescue.

HOMER

Introducing Homer who will turn 2 yrs old in August. He was raised in a kennel environment and is CKC registered. Since being with me, he has learned to go up and down the stairs, will potty when taken outside, but would recommend close supervision for a couple months to make sure he understands "we go potty outside", crate trained, leash trained, neutered, and current on all vaccinations until April 2009. I have all of his vaccination records since he was a puppy, too. His current weight is 4.7 lbs. Tall and very slender. My vet has recommended that he gain a pound. He has a beautiful fawn coat, white underneath with green eyes.

This little guy is a great dog, has a wonderful loving temperament; he is very sweet and gentle. He needs a home that will allow to him flourish in his new environment to become the best house dog he can be; with some patience and time, I feel sure he will be just that. I would highly recommend his new home consist of no small children and ideally no other dogs, even though he has been with other Chihuahuas his whole life and gets along with them well, he has a tendency sometimes to want to mark his territory (inside and out) if there is another male dog in the household. Proper training would change this behavior. With another female Chihuahua, I don’t believe this would be a problem. However; I do feel he needs all of the attention to make him feel secure and loved. Homer is not skittish like most Chihuahuas, nor is he a barker.

If you want a wonderful loving lap dog, Homer’s your man. He is ready when you are. Contact tbailey_fw@att.net.  Homer is located in Euless, TX.

REX
Rex is a one year old neutered male Chihuahua. His birthday is 3/22/07. He was just over 7 lbs when weighed in November. He is red/rust colored and has a smooth coat. He was rescued from the back patio of an apartment in the High Desert where he was surviving with 10 other dogs/puppies. Prior to that, he had lived his life in a cage of a defunct pet store.

Rex was terrified when he came to our home, especially of men, and was not social with our family dogs. We had him neutered and vaccinated and had the vet check him over. He is also microchipped. Despite his rough start, he is very healthy and much more social. He plays with our dogs now, a lot, and seems to be having great fun! He is easy to walk, I can walk him with my 2 dogs, holding all 3 leashes in one hand. Instead of fleeing in terror when I or my family approach him, he greets us with a wagging tail. He used to tremble in fear when held on my lap, and now he lets me pet him calmly. He likes to sleep in his crate and likes to explore in our house or play outside. He is crate trained. He would do well in a home with patience and time to let him build trust and adjust to his new surroundings. I think a family would be fine, but with older children (because he is a toy dog) and he would enjoy playing with an even tempered canine playmate once he got to know him/her. He is an intelligent pup and I think he will train well and adapt well in his new home.

Rex is located in Santa Ana, CA and is available for a Southern California home. Please contact Rose by email at cunningham.rose@yahoo.com.

TATE

TATE (or as we like to call her, TATER-TOT) is a 2 year old black female. She still needs a little help with potty training - not quite 100% there yet. She would do best in a home with a lot of attention and people to play with, preferably a home with someone there during the day. She is good with children, cats, and other small dogs. She is approximately 8 pounds and a cuddle monster. Tater-Tot has tons of energy and a sweet temperament. She is also micro-chipped. I have all her papers and can provide her vet records.

Serious inquiries only!!! Call Nazarine at 516-9643. Email is: nazarine@mac.com.

BOBBY AND BARKER

BOBBY & BARKER...

are 2 brothers about 10 yrs old. They are Chihuahua mixes, maybe with some Dachshund. They are sweet dogs and like to be held. They still run around and act like young pups.

They were rescued from a bad hoarder situation in November. There were 13 dogs and 33 cats, mostly unaltered, all living in the house. Feral Friends has had them neutered, vaccinated, and micro-chipped. They are amazingly heartworm negative and now on preventative.

It appears to me that Barker maybe had his jaw broken at some time, because his tongue is always hanging out the side of his mouth. Barker also has very few teeth and the ones he does have probably need to be pulled. Bobby needs some dental work done also, so they both are on a soft food diet.

They get upset when they are separated because they have been together their whole life, but they also fight over food, so they need to be separated while eating.

Because of the environment they grew up in and not being neutered until they were 10 yrs old, they are not housebroken. They will need an owner who is willing to use bellybands (doggie diapers) or provide them with secure, weather protected outside quarters.

Bobby & Barker are located in the Dallas, TX area. If you can give these poor old guys a good home, contact Rhonda through Feral Friends at  www.feralfriends.org

CHARLIE

Charlie was an owner surrender at a vet clinic in Lake Mary, Florida. Lucky for him, the vet tech took him home and is fostering him until he gets a new home.

Charlie is a young male (neutered) 9 lb Chihuahua with a little underbite. He is current on shots and appears to be housebroken. He is good with other small dogs and cats but NOT small children! Anybody interested in him will just need to be patient for him because he has had several homes before i got him and it seems no one gave him very much love. He is potty trained and just needs some work on other behavioral things like excessive barking and the occasional chewing ( not destroying anything). I have been kennel traing him during the day and it is working well. Charlie has good teeth and gums so at this point he does not seem to have any health problems.

Charlie is 11 months old and i believe once he has a permanent home it will not be hard to reverse and alter his skittish nature. He is very loving and just loves to be curled up in bed with you, he is a great companion and would never bite anybody.

My email address is southernthang88@hotmail.com  and i check it daily.

RUSTY

I am Rusty, a 9 lb. male Chihuahua born 6/2/2003, neutered 4/1/2004 with vaccinations current through 4/2008.  I'm house trained, crate trained and have a congenial, passive personality.  I am very loyal and protective of my master.  If you put my bed on the car seat and open the car door, I will jump into my bed and remain there until we reach our destination; I am a great traveler.  My preference is to live inside and be the only pet in the family because I am jealous and want individual love, affection, and attention from my master.  Mature people would love me as a lap dog in their home, but I also love children and would never bite.  IF I had a behavior problem, it would be standing straight up and begging for a bite of food when my master is eating.

My current human mama is a senior citizen with health problems who cares for her 90-year old in-laws and her 38 year old disabled son along with their two dogs.   Her responsibilities have become overwhelming, so with tears and great reluctance she is having to make changes in order to meet those responsibilities.  It seems that I, little Rusty, have drawn the "short straw" and must be relocated.  I am a wonderful loving little guy who will make a wonderful pet in a caring home.  Contact janehlange@yahoo.com  (972-530-0871) cell (469) 544-0991.  Rusty lives in the Dallas area.

LUCKY
We stumbled across this little lover in the middle of busy intersection in Hollywood about a month ago! Unfortunately, our living circumstances do not allow for us to keep him, so we are determined to find him the perfect forever home.

We are guessing Lucky is about one year old, some kind of Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix, and weighs about ten pounds. We took him to the vet and got him fixed and up to date on shots, and he's in overall good health. He's an energetic puppy who needs lots of attention and supervision, he's great with kids and other dogs and cats, and his very favorite thing to do is cuddle up with you while you are watching TV or on the computer.

Lucky has made so many friends during his stay at our home. Everyone who meets him falls in love with him! Our trainer loves him so much that she is offering to work with Lucky free of charge when he finds his new forever home. He will get two free training sessions in your home and one group obedience training. This is very important, as Lucky has a little bit of anxiety being left home alone, and this will help him overcome it. The perfect home would be with one person or a family that could give him LOTS of attention, possibly someone that works from home or can bring him along. He would also make a great companion dog to your one-dog home.

Our landlord recently discovered that we brought in another dog and wants him gone as soon as possible. His time with us is limited, and we want to find him a home ourselves instead of placing him with a shelter or rescue organization.

Please call for more details, or to set up a time to meet him!

WILL AND GRACE

Will is about seven years old. He is very shy and doesn't have much hair left. He is on medication for a low thyroid and for a collapsing trachea. He also seems to have some allergies. Other then that he seems perfectly happy.

Grace is a quiet little Chihuahua that just likes to lay back and observe what's going on. She is so sweet. She seems to have had some trauma to her back earlier in life because she can't hold her bladder and doesn't walk completely normal. She doesn't have any problems getting around though and she is good at wearing a diaper.

Please contact spongegirl8787@yahoo.com for more information.

Gabby's owner has passed away recently. She is a black & tan spayed female, 5-6 yrs old, and is about 10 lbs - a little chubby girl!!  She is a really cute and sweet dog with very soft hair. She is on heart medicine (which costs about $20 per month) and is on a diet since she has been here !!

REN

He is neutered, de-fleaed, and had his teeth cleaned. Vet estimates his age at 3 years. Ren gets along with cats and tolerates other dogs but does have food aggression issues. He may also need some work with housetraining. Ren loves being on laps and also likes to actively run around the house. Currently he is being fostered in Liberty, IN and we will transport him within about a 90 mile radius (we are between Indianapolis and Cincinnati). We believe he needs a home with caregivers who know about Chihuahuas.

If you are interested in giving Ren a forever home, contact Frances Yates for Adopt A Dog at www.adoptadog.petfinder.com
